The helicity values out in front of this system is really impressive and WIDE. The sheer is really impressive to me at how wide an area it covers. Tonight shortly after midnight the air is really unstable from the GA / AL line all the way back over to the Oklahoma / Arkansas line. There is no CAD to stabilize the air on the East side of the state. Only positive I see is that as it stands right now it is that its not coming in at 3-5PM. It will come in early morning Tuesday if it does not slow up or speed up.

Watching patiently 60. Tis that time of year. Yep. Today is going to be crazy for our neighbors to our west. The good and bad news for us is we will most likely have an overnight event tonight, ie. Early Tuesday morning from midnight on. I would really like to see that timing change though.

Here's da skinny kiddies (at least according to this mornings model runs, mainly the NAM)
Bama, particularly Jefferson County and points Northward should see things start to soup up by around 10 am this morning and conditions will only deteriorate from that point forward through the evening.
Extreme NW Ga should get in on the action around 10 or 11 pm tonight with tornadic cells possible before the effects of atmospheric cooling settle the storms down a notch. How far to the south east these strong storms make it before losing their punch isn't known yet. I expect we could hear thunder through the night as this second wave works through all morning Tuesday. Things will then fire back up on Wednesday but I don't expect round 3 to be as severe, just a major soaker. We are looking at easily between 2 to 4 inches and more across the northern half of Georgia, and potentially more in isolated areas, depending on where you are in relation to some of the heavier rain cells.
My impression right now is that this will be a central Georgia northward event as far as the worst weather is concerned with SOWEGA and SEGA getting mostly rain and not so much of the severe stuff.
I will update as the event progresses and more information roles in.

Wow! Watching the live feed from spotters near Louisville MS where they have a monster in the ground. EF-4 or 5 class. Prayers to those in the path. I sure hope these things chill out some before arriving here tonight. Why's it always in the middle of the night for us?

Just looked at the RAP model data in hopes of seeing numbers favorable for reduction in potential later tonight. Bad news folks, what I hoped to see wasn't there. We are in for a rough night, especially the folks in N. Ga. The 3km helicity, MUCAPE, Lifted Index and precipitable water all are working against us. In the next couple of hours the folks in extreme NE Ga will be getting in on the act and as the systems works east most of us from Columbus up through the northern half of the state will be joining in. I don't see a let up in severe potential until sometime after 8am in the morning. Up until that point Lifted Index numbers are well into the -7's (bad news) 3km helicity numbers are well into the 300's (again bad news)and I don't even want to talk about the bulk shear. It's going to be a long night folks, please please please use your weather radios. If you don't have one, get your butt to walmart, radio shack, kroger, ace hardware, wherever you can find one. It'll be the best $35 you've ever spent. Have I mentioned I hate night time severe weather outbreaks before? I will be watching and posting as late as I can (may sneak in a nap now before it gets hairy) but it's been a long hard day and I ain't gettin any younger ya know.

Hugh,
Here in N Paulding, we have a constant west wind at about 10mph right now. What exactly does this mean? Is it sucking? Its a cooler wind and hoping that helps the situation.

For those of you that are hearing Glen Burns state that most of metro Atlanta has been removed from the tornado watch area please understand this. The watch was posted for the metro Atlanta area due to the rogue cells that popped up earlier this afternoon. Some people may be going to bed with the false impression that Atlanta and the surrounding counties are clear for the night, from the manner GB is stating this information. This couldn't be farther from the truth. As the system moves closer the metro counties will most likely be placed back in the watch area in the early morning hours.
Please do NOT let your guard down with this system.

Made sure all gadgets are charged and freezers are set to a lower temp until this blows over. It's not raining yet, but it feels down right electrical out there.
