Stopped at Ladds for some layer feed the day before Easter. My 18 year old daughter Cheyenne spotted the new arrivals, which just happened to be turkeys. So we have a new bird for the flock, hopefully it's a hen, because she promised if it is a male we will fatten it up for Thanksgiving dinner. Right now,it stays in the living room in a 55 gallon aquarium for the brooder. There is a feather duster hanging inside the brooder that turkey runs under when scared or sleeping. We have to leave the TV on so turkey doesn't get lonely or it gets loud.

I'm hoping we can get an area set up for birds one day. That's a cute little turkey nugget! Post some pics as it fattens up!

Here is turkey lurkey now, still haven't figured out if it's a tom or hen. It's totally free range.I have seen where these domestic turkeys will just lay in front of a feeder and eat all day if they are given the chance. It's roosts on my ladder stand that is propped up against house.

They can get mean especially towards females, if it is a hen.....so is it's name Thanksgiving or Christmas?
