Colin's Cross Country Coach, Heather Grace, was given the all clear on a routine mammogram 6 months ago, and here right before spring break noticed something and decided to get it checked out. After a biopsy it was discovered she had stage 2 breast cancer of a very aggressive type of cancer and they have started chemo this week. On this type they will be doing chemo first, then I think surgery will happen and then radiation. She has stepped down as the Cross Country Coach because of what this is going to do to her by next fall, but fully intends to return when it is over. She is a fighter and has her goals set on returning.
She will need all of the prayers we can muster.

Prayers sent Hugh, she's in for a long haul.
Dawn had a mammogram in July and found cancer in September.

Man, it's tough watching so many folks go through this. Here is a note from the Coach from her FB page that pretty much sums up her feelings and what she is going through. It has to be exhausting, mentally and physically and anyone we know going through cancer treatments needs our support in any way we can give it. Continue praying for her please.

As big as I am all I want to do is grab some of them and just give them a big bear hug and tell them it will be all right and then make it all right, but all I can do is pray for them ... prayers for coach and all those who suffer from cancer....

I won't quote the entire blog this time, but Coach got test results back. The good news is that her cancer is not genetic so that eases her mind about her two girls being at risk. The bad news was that a recent test came back HER-2 positive, Stage 2B / Grade 3 very aggressive cancer. This means that instead of being done on June 20th with the chemo and the painful Neulasta shot that knocked her down for three days every week, as soon as those are over she'll begin a new chemo regime with Taxol plus Herceptin every week for 12 weeks.
Keep up those prayers folks.
