Dang, that Jackson MS area is as red as any. I was there back in 08' (I believe) when one hit Jackson. Woke me up in N Jackson at the Staybridge. Also, had one the year after near hit me in Baton Rouge at the Residence inn in SE BR. That hotel living and Tonado's seemed to follow me around there in 08 and 09. Had several other close calls.

The southern / central portion of Miss. and central / northern portion of Al. really get hammered. Of particular interest to me is the long tracking tornado that basically traversed the entire width of Ga. starting down in the SW corner. I wonder what year that was?

So this is a path map then...it is mapping the path of all reported tornado's for those years...Now I understand it better....okay light bulb just got little brighter here in the office...

SHocking to me is how many are pointed north and south. The normal track for a tornado seems to be sw to north east.. 60, care to explain the North to South on some of these?

I looked at the map and didn't see what you were seeing, at least not in Georgia. I do know that a few tropical disturbances have blown up out of the gulf through Bama and caused a few S to N spinny things, but in general ours are SW to NE or WSW to ENE.

I was looking more to the West of the Mississippi.

Is there a way to focus closer in on GA area ? \ Weatherunderground has an interactive version that you can zoom in on and pan around, and pull up info on individual tornadoes. Pretty interesting.
