OK, I must have slept through some legislation or something. Before we went to wally world, the local store, whatever to buy a license. Then the powers that be farmed it out to an out of state agency and for several years we have been buying them through whatever company that was, printing out a decent looking color sheet and folding it along the lines to put in our wallet to have a license.
Fast forward to now, as in rat cheer n now. Gonna take the boy and a friend of his up to Clarkesville to visit a customer near the Soque River on Tuesday. I checked my license and it expired in February. So, I log on to the DNR site, notice that I am dealing with them now, not XYZ company to get my license. So it is simple and painless and I opt for the save a copy and print, instead of the mailing dealy. First you have to save and print your receipt with a TAN (temporary #) on it. Then they say your license has been sent to your email, and to save it to your computer for future printing if you lose it. So I open the pdf file, and it's this plain ol' sheet of paper with a couple of things printed on it that say I bought a license and what it covers. WHAT THE HECK IS THAT ALL ABOUT???
For $57.50 for a Sportsman's License I get a sheet of paper that looks like it was created in a Word Document???
Where's something that at least is suppose to look like a license??? and how in the heck am I suppose to fold up an 8x11 ugly sheet of paper and carry it around with me? What happened to a license actually looking at least sort of like a license???

Aight, finding the deer harvest record to print was only slightly challenging, but instead of printing out a separate record, it prints out your entire 8x11 sheet of paper license again with the deer harvest record added to it.
Whoever dreamed up this goat rodeo needs to be throat punched, tarred and feathered. They had a perfect system working 20 years ago, but it was too expensive for them to do own their own, but now, somehow, they can do it own their own again and it's not too expensive??? but it's about as screwed up as a football bat.

My printer quit working, guess I'll go to the local huntin/fishin store and get a new one. What do I need for trout fishing in N Ga ??? Just get a sportsman's license, it covers it all, except for the duck stamp. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around this new format license. There isn't any place to sign your name, or designated for it. Although I never figured out what a signature on your license proved anyway. Then, the old license was about 2"x 2" folded in quarters and fit in the neat little plastic sleeves for hunting licenses you could get for free a the mom n pop stores. The new one, folded in quarters is bigger than my wallet. It is 4.25" x 5.5". If I fold it smaller, which I am obviously going to have to do, then it does get down to close to the same size as the old one but is as thick as three credit cards or thicker and I am creasing a line right across pertinent information printing, which over time is sure to wear out. Of course, I have it saved to my computer, so I guess I can always print out a new one.

The whole thing is still farmed out to a company in Missouri...Don't you just love the convenience fee now attached to your license as well...Oh and Wallyworld and the like get to charge you an additional convenience fee to print your license on their printer.....( See what you learn working in a tackle shop).....

Pretty soon it will be so convenient, and small that we'll have to have a 3 ringed binder to carry the stupid thing in.

The two dollar "convienience" few really chaps my behind. I have seriously thought about not getting a license and just continuing to hunt and fish. I mean, I have been checked once while hunting and 2 times while fishing in Georgia in the past 20 years. One of those fishing trips, my license was expired and the fine was like 40 bucks or something. But I won't. I'll keep playing the stupid game like all of the other sportsman he in Georgia..

You have to have a license to hunt and fish???? Not on you own property like the 100 acres of deer overrun woods you have in front of your porch nor the pond behind the house.

Not on you own property like the 100 acres of deer overrun woods you have in front of your porch nor the pond behind the house. While going down his driveway............middle of a hot day,I stopped and took pictures of deer right beside my truck. He has them tamed, they just run to you and give themselves up. If only he knew where to park his camper.
