I just sauteed a small piece in extra virgin olive oil..................pretty derned good!

After further study,I'm finding that it is actually called chicken of the woods,....Hen of the woods are a browninsh gray

Thems evil poison mushrooms. They won't kill you but after cookin and eatin a few batches of em your weee kneee will fall off. |

It's funny,everyone thinks these wild mushrooms will make you hallucinate or kill ya. Monons. Stupidest thing I've ever heard of. I just keep an eye out for the pink elephants when I'm driving after cookin up a batch. They'll run right out in front of your car if you're not careful. |

Much studying is done before trying them.  ......I only try the ones that do not have a poisonous look a like.I know there are false chanterelles ,but they only cause intestinal discomfort |

Found some chanterelles today. Dang it's awful early for Chanterelles. Also don't pull them up, the spread by the roots. Cut them off about an inch above ground next time, or you'll deplete your crop. These were found close to bluffy creek in paulding county on private land.....Good info to know on pulling them up,I was not aware of that.The owner said that over the last few years he has been pulling some up,then crush them in his hand on other parts of his land to distribute them.I found them in the bottoms and up high |
